After years of admiring others’ images, this year I submitted my work to the Exhibition of Photography at the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar. I was pleased indeed to have three images accepted (now on display until July 4) at the largest photographic exhibition on the west coast. All three reflect my ongoing fascination with water and were taken within ten miles of my home; two, I’ve shown on this blog before. And yes, I am aware of the irony of three waterscapes (my category in the show) when living in an area of severe drought—and none of them of the ocean so close by.
The first, which I think of as “the rock star” of the three pictures (to mix metaphors a bit), was taken one rainy night after leaving a restaurant in Del Mar. I took the photograph of a submerged leaf in Cottonwood Creek Park in Encinitas while there with my grandson. The final image “Upon Reflection” is also from Encinitas. The photo captures water plants in a tank, found in a nursery specializing in Japanese koi; the image just floated there waiting for me to come along.
Beautiful Pictures Sally!
Congratulations, my friend. You beautifully proved that we need to keep our eyes open all the time, even in our own back yard or nearby town!
Congratulations Sally! This is wonderful indeed! And the photos deserve high praise!
Beautiful!
